Biography
David Stewart was the first Labour MP to be elected in Inverness East, Nairn and Lochaber following his election victory in 1997.
He was a member of the Scottish and Work and Pensions Select Committees and from 2003-05 was Parliamentary Private Secretary to Alistair Darling, Secretary of State for Scotland.
In June 2009 he was appointed as a trustee of the Scottish Parliament Pension Fund.
He is currently Chair of Inverness, Nairn , Badenoch and Strathspey CLP.
David was employed as Assistant Director for Rural Affairs with the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations.
His main interests are rural affairs, health, energy, aviation and the voluntary sector.
He was born in Inverness and educated at Paisley College, Stirling University and the Open University Business School.
David is married to Linda, and they have two children, Andrew, a neuroscience student, and Kirsty .
