David Stewart, Highlands and Islands regional Labour MSP, is urging all football fans in Inverness to get behind Clachnacuddin FC.

The club were placed in administration earlier this week and the North MSP has already called on interested business parties to get involved the fight to save the Highland League club.

Mr Stewart said: "The club has a proud heritage stretching back over one hundred and twenty years to 1886.

Inverness needs continued representation in the Highlands league and ensuring Clach’s survival is vital to that.

Inverness Councillor Bet McAllister said: "We are seeing every day how hard businesses are finding it in the current economic climate and that is no difference for Clach.

"Hopefully their stay in administration will be as short-lived as possible."

Now, the MSP and councillor have launched an online petition, for fans to show their support for the local side.

Mr Stewart added: "There is still hope for the club and I would urge all football fans in the north to get behind the club as help save this footballing institution, signing the petition is way they can shoe their support.

"It would be a tragedy to be without Highland League representation in Inverness and I am asking everyone to sign my petition to save the club."
