David Stewart’s visit to RAF Lossiemouth

10 July 2009

David Stewart, Highlands and Islands regional Labour MSP, is praising the expertise and commitment of staff at RAF Lossiemouth.

Mr Stewart, a former member of Westminster’s Armed Forces Parliament Scheme, has visited the base and will also be heading to RAF Kinloss over the summer.

Mr Stewart said: "I am very impressed by the expertise and commitment shown by the staff I met during my visit. I know the stress that detached duties can put on families.

"Lossiemouth is a vital part of the UK defence infrastructure that would be lost in break up of the union

"It provides a key link for both the UK and NATO military strategy and at a local level; the base is a vital factor in the Moray Economy and beyond."

The photograph shows David Stewart in the cockpit of the Tornado Flight GR4, state of the art simulator, which is provided by Thales.
