The MV Coruisk and the Mallaig/Armadale route

Highlands and Islands Labour MSP, David Stewart, is not surprised that the MV Coruisk will not be returning to the Mallaig/Armadale route for the summer service, given the delay in the announcement and the trialling of MV Loch Fyne.

“I’ve always supported the community to get the best service possible and have been concerned about last summer’s experience particularly for local businesses,” he said.

“It remains to be seen if CalMac’s solution will provide the promised ‘additional capacity, frequency and improved reliability requested by the Sleat community’ and I fully understand that the decision will upset local people who have campaigned hard to see the Coruisk return.

“I will continue to liaise with Sleat Transport Forum, the Transport Minister and CalMac about this ferry service and will monitor if it will, at last, do the job for the community.”
